Connect FLEX Player to WiFi

Connect FLEX Player to WiFi

The FLEX is capable of connecting to a wireless network using the tested and approved dongles:
  1. WiFi Nano (normal range)
  2. WiFi High Gain Antenna (longer range)
If you prefer to source your own WiFi USB Dongles, they must utilize the Realtek RTL8188EU chipset. Click Here for a complete list of compatible USB hardware

The minimum signal strength required for music streaming is >50%. The High Gain version of the dongle adds roughly 15-18 percentage points compared to the Nano. In field testing at approximately 125 feet from the wireless access point (and through two walls), the Nano provided 52-57% signal strength compared to the High Gain results of 68-74%.

On-site environmental conditions as well as the construction, location, and proximity of the Flex to the WiFi Access will all impact signal strength on a case-by-case basis. We are aware of current installations with as much as 135 feet, through a couple sheetrock walls performing at 76-80% signal strength using the High Gain Antenna.

NOTE: The FLEX must first be connected via wired ethernet to configure WiFi parameters. You must be able to access the LAN Web User Interface using the device IP Address.

To connect your FLEX Player to a wireless network, INSERT the  WiFi USB Adapter into either USB port on the front FLEX panel and following these steps:
  1. Open an Internet browser and enter the device IP Address assigned to your FLEX by your router (How To Locate FLEX Local IP).
  2. From the Settings Tab, expand Network Settings and use the Wireless SSID drop-down to select your preferred Wireless Network. (see image below)
  3. Assuming the WiFi Network is password protected, use the Security drop-down to select "WPA" and enter the network Password. (see image below)

  4. Step 2. Select Wireless Network SSID from Drop-Down
Step 3. Choose "WPA" and Enter WiFi Password

  5. Click on Submit at the bottom of the page.

The device will apply the configured settings and will reboot. AFTER reboot, the WiFi status should be connected, indicated by a green dot next to the WIRELESS label.

*Yellow indicates an incorrect WiFi Password

  6. Lastly, power OFF the FLEX by removing the power cord from the back of the device. Disconnect the wired Ethernet cable, reconnect the power cord and wait for the device to fully reboot for the wireless connection to be fully functioning. When the device connects correctly to a wireless network it will be indicated in the web UI as follow:
In the event of a password or SSID change to the wireless network, reconnect the FLEX via wired ethernet and repeat above steps to update the WiFi Password.
