Portal Migration & Network Requirements:

Over the next few weeks, all Flex music devices will be migrated from the current European-hosted admin portal to a new US-hosted admin portal. This migration will also include a transition to a new firmware update server, as well as new music stream urls.

(The highlighted information below is current and will remain applicable through June 30, 2026, as part of the transition period. All non-highlighted information should be implemented and followed moving forward to ensure proper connectivity and playback.)

Port Availability - no changes made/required

Please note that the Flex device uses a Web Secure Socket connection in order to communicate with the Device Portal. To run smoothly within a LAN the following ports need to be available for communication with the Device's services:

Port 80 -> HTTP (HTTP traffic)

Port 443 -> HTTPS (HTTPS traffic)

Port 123 -> NTP (NTP time traffic)

Port 53 -> DNS (DNS lookup - needed by your browser and units to lookup domain names)

Whitelisting

Admin Portal Connection:

Whitelisting anything *.barix.com is best to allow the FLEX to connect to the admin portal.

Whitelisting anything *.theflexplayer.com is best to allow the FLEX to connect to the admin portal.

Music Streaming Playback:

If stream playback issues persist, it is recommended that you whitelist *.steadybrand.music

Note: If an asterisk cannot function as a wildcard to permit domains '(anything).barix.com', ‘(anything).theflexplayer.com, and '(anything).steadybrand.music', then please whitelist the following URLs:

manage.barix.com

manage.theflexplayer.com

control.theflexplayer.com

update.theflexplayer.com

stream.steadybrand.music

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION** for all customers running their FLEX devices behind firewalls:

The IP address of the FLEX Portal should be updated in your firewall rules according to the following:

Current Player Portal - IPv4: 195.201.126.106  (manage.barix.com)

Current Update Server - IPv4: 49.13.159.43  (release.barixupdate.com)

New Player Portal - IPv4: 157.245.208.209 (manage.theflexplayer.com)

New Update Server - IPv4: 104.248.2.220 (update.theflexplayer.com)

If Geo-IP Filtering is enabled on your firewall, you will need to select Germany (server location of device portal) as one of your allowed countries

1. Required speed: At least 0.5 Mbps of available internet speed to stream music smoothly.
2. Upload Usage (outbound traffic): The Flex should average less than 75 MB per day to remain connected to the player portal.
3. Download Usage (streaming traffic): One stream at 128 kbps uses approximately - 0.06GB (56 MB) per hour
   

CONCERNED ABOUT BANDWIDTH?
If bandwidth usage is a concern, consider requesting the use of OPEN HOURS scheduling, which determines when a FLEX unit is allowed to stream music.
