Music - Updates, Lyrics, and Normalization

New Music / Refresh Channels
Each month, our music design partners review Promo Only, Shoplifter, Billboard, and other sources for new releases from top artists. Channel updates are guided by:

  • Playing current songs
  • Number of songs on the channel
  • Listener count
  • Seasonal needs (planned months in advance)

During regular curation, we might remove songs and introduce new ones. We take a comprehensive approach to each channel, understanding that some customers listen exclusively to one channel.

Lyric Checking Process
:

We don’t vet songs marked 'explicit' or their clean versions (since listeners often infer the censored content). All songs must pass a lyric check and be musically suitable, adhering to our standards on profanity and content. While we don’t allow overtly offensive content, some channels may feature frank discussions typical in modern pop and rock.

Volume – Normalization.
Ensuring a smooth customer experience involves managing sound levels and seamless song transitions.

  • We don’t use software for segues but achieve excellent results through careful processing, trimming silence to about half a second between songs.
  • All songs are normalized using Adobe Audition with a multi-band compressor to ensure consistent audio levels without detectable compression.
